The State of Self-Employed Health Insurance <---Article Link--->
This is a topic very close to me because as a self-employed professional skier, health insurance is incredibly important aspect of my life. Health costs are sky-rocketing, insurance companies are continually finding new cutthroat tactics to squeeze profits out of individuals seeking help and the government has done little to help the individual, primarily swaying to the interests of the corporation.
That being said, for people like me health insurance is increasingly hard to obtain. Either it is unaffordable ($500/month payments) or unattainable because companies like Anthem deny you coverage (which happened a few days ago). Sure there are small government opportunities like MRMIP. But a little research will let you know that they're just expensive state backed plans that are run by the Big Three health insurers (Anthem, Blue Shield, Kaiser-Permanente).
All in all, there is a problem in America. I don't have the answers. But people like this man do have some answers. Perhaps it isn't the perfect solution, but it's a start in the right direction.
If you're with me make sure to share your stories and pressure your local politicians. If you're against me, well then do you mind sharing some health benefits?
